Carter L. Quance
Carter L. Quance, 61, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Carter was born Oct. 1, 1951, in Garrett, Ind., to Robert Quance and Beverly (Bolley) Quance. He graduated in 1970 from Carroll High School, Fort Wayne, and later earned a bachelor of arts degree from Manchester College in 1976 with a major in choral music and a minor in mathematics. On Sept. 30, 1989, Carter married Marty J. (Hammonds) Hoffman of South Bend, Ind.
Originally from Fort Wayne, Carter resided in Warsaw, Ind. for over 30 years. He was a supervisor at Lippert Components, Inc., Goshen, Ind.
He is survived by his wife; three children: Aaron Quance, Warsaw; Corban (Caitlin) Quance, Warsaw; Melita Quance Schwartz, Prescott, Ariz.; four step-daughters: Dawn (Chris) Patrick, North Manchester, Ind.; Leann Laughlin, Etna Green, Ind.; Tonya (Brian) Richie, Denver, Ind.; Hope Nutting, South Bend; a step-son: Preston (Anne) Hoffman, Columbia City, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; Beck Quance Beers, Rachel Laughlin, Rowland Quance Schwartz, Taylor Laughlin, Noah Quance, Chad Hoffman, Trinity Smith, Craig Hoffman, Erica Lightle, Allyssa Richie, Travis Lightle, Cameron Richie, Heather Knowles, Adrianna Richie, Devin Delong, Coty Hoffman, Noelle Patrick, Braidon Nutting, Alexis Nutting; five great-grandchildren; and a sister: Cheryl (Garth) Coons, Wawaka, Ind. Carter was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, as well as 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Dec. 22, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Brian Richie officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
