UPDATE: Robbery Suspect Arrested At Gas Station
Warsaw Police took one man into custody outside the Freedom Express gas station on Argonne Road just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
The man, wearing a green hoodie and a camouflage hat, was reportedly trying to rob the station. An employee called 9-1-1 saying the suspect told them he had a gun, but it was never displayed. The caller did say he observed some kind of object in the man’s pocket, but never saw the alleged weapon.
The suspect demanded all the money in the register, but then left the business walking southbound. Officers quickly arrived and were checking the area when the attendant called back and advised that the suspect had returned and was in the lot in a red pick-up truck.
The suspect, Joseph J. Bradley, 53, of Claypool, told officers that he was only joking and did not have a gun.
After interviewing Bradley, it was determined that he did intend to rob the gas station but when he did he felt bad about it and left. Bradley said he returned to apologize to the attendant.
Bradley was arrested for attempted robbery, a class C felony.
