IDOE Names Three Warsaw ‘Reward Schools’
Warsaw Community Schools is proud to announce that Harrison, Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary schools have achieved the Reward Schools Status.
Per Indiana’s NCLB Flexibility Waiver, Reward Schools are Title I-served schools that show high growth or high achievement. This year, the IDOE awarded Reward school status to elementary, middle, and high schools.
The methods used to select Reward schools were based on schools’ grade configurations and the corresponding A through F model used to calculate schools’ grades. In order to achieve Reward status a school must meet the following criteria:
- Elementary/Middle School Model – a school must receive all possible bonus points Elementary Feeder Model – a school must receive a final letter grade of an A Standard High School Model – a school must receive 3 out of the possible 4 bonus points and not receive any penalties
- Eleven/Twelve High School Model – a school must receive a final letter grade of an A
- Nine/Ten High School Model – a school must receive a final letter grade of an A Small High School Model – a school must receive a final letter grade of an A Combined School Model – a school must receive a final letter grade of an A
Reward schools will receive a plaque to recognize its Reward School designation. The State Board of Education may also invite schools to present a “Spotlight on Learning” during one of its monthly meetings. Additionally, the school will be awarded bonus points on the 2012-2013 Innovation grant and Excellence in Performance grant.
