UPDATE: Stabbing Was Likely Self-Inflicted
Milford Police, officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Multi-Township EMS were called to the Just-N-Time bar in Milford at about 8 p.m. Tuesday where a woman went in and reported she was stabbed.
This morning, Milford Police say the victim, Chantel Drake, 41, of Camp Mack Road, Milford, actually sustained a self-inflicted stab wound.
According to Milford Police, Drake and other individuals were at an apartment at 213 S. Main St. celebrating. During the course of the investigation and from evidence found, authorities today say they believe Drake’s chest wound was self inflicted and it occurred at the apartment.
When Drake went to the bar seeking help for her injury, she initially said she had been shot. The first officers on scene noted the injury was actually from a knife.
Information from those who were inside the bar last night told StaceyPageOnline.com that Drake said she was stabbed by her girlfriend. The 9-1-1 call came from the Just-N-Time. Police today say it appears Drake and her partner had a disagreement earlier in the evening which likely led to the incident.
Medics initially called for a helicopter to transport Drake for medical care and Milford Fire Department personnel were establishing a landing zone at CR 900 North and SR 15. However, Lutheran Air ambulance was disregarded and the woman was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne via MTEMS.
Drake was treated at the hospital and released.
It is not yet known what, if any, charges Drake will face.
