WCHS ‘Christmas At The Pops’ Concert
The Warsaw Community High School Instrumental Music Department will present “Christmas at the Pops” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the WCHS Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
The concert will feature the WCHS Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. The WCHS Jazz Band and state- championship Percussion Ensemble will also perform. The bands are under the direction of Mickey Ratliff and Emily Mikel.
The Jazz Band will perform “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” with guest vocalist Mr. Scott Avery, WCHS choir director.
The WCHS Wind Ensemble will perform “All Is Calm (Silent Night)” featuring Dianne Martin-Ratliff on flute and Judie Meulink on piano.
The program will also include such holiday classics as “I Saw Three Ships,” “Jingle Bells,” “Joy to the World,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Winter Wonderland” and many others. Prior to the concert at 7:30 pm, the Gentle Winds Trio will perform seasonal favorites in the Performing Arts Center lobby.
The Gentle Winds Trio is a local professional ensemble comprised of flutists Dawn Engler and Dianne Martin Ratliff and cellist Mary Jeanne Kreft.
There will be no charge for the concert, but freewill donations will be accepted in the lobby. All donations will benefit the Community Closet. The Community Closet collects and distributes hygiene products, cleaning products, and other household items to families in need.
Monetary donations will be used to purchase items such as toothpaste, laundry detergent, shampoo, diapers (infant and sizes 3 and 4), toilet paper, body wash and deodorant. Concert attendees may choose to donate these or similar items, used clothing (particularly coats and winter clothes), or make a monetary donation.
Donors who write checks may make them out to the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw for tax purposes. The Closet distributes items from the First United Methodist Church every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
