Tobie H. Blalock
Tobie H. Blalock, 91, of Mentone, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Kindred Health Care Center of Bremen, Ind.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Sevierville, Tenn., to Fred and Martha (Myers) Blalock. On Dec. 25, 1942, he married Dorothy Nottingham in Mentone. She died on March 16, 2012.
Tobie served in Guam as an aircraft mechanic during WWII. He then returned and began working for Manwaring Leghorn Farms for 26 years, Midwest Spring for 10 years, and part-time for Ace Hardware of Warsaw for 11 years.
Tobie was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the Mentone First Baptist Church for the last 45 years. He also was a member of the Mentone Lions Club.
He is survived by two sisters: Vada Barnes and Vetris Newman, Sevierville, Tenn.; two sons: Barry (Mary) Blalock, Kokomo, Ind.; and Dennis (Linda) Blalock, Warsaw, Ind.; a daughter: Kathy (David) McGowen, Bremen, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Blalock; and five brothers: Frank, Melvin, R.J., Earl and Robert Blalock.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Wilhite. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
