Donald Ray Hines
Donald Ray Hines, 80, passed away after a short illness with pneumonia on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1931, in Silver Lake, Ind., to Roy and Faye (Beeney) Hines. He had lived in West Plains, Mo., since 2002.
On June 19, 1954, Don married Verna Leona Nelson. They were married in Warsaw, Ind., and enjoyed 47 years of marriage until she passed away Dec. 24, 2001.
Don grew up in Silver Lake, Ind. He worked the farm at home, and later worked at furniture making company in North Manchester before he began working at Dalton Foundry in Warsaw. He retired in 1996 after 41 years.
He attended church faithfully with his wife and children, first at the Warsaw Church of God, and later at Community Grace Brethren. He was a faithful caregiver for his wife who suffered from multiple sclerosis and was paralyzed the last 20 years of her life. He also invested in real estate and managed properties. He leaves his family a legacy of loyalty, devotion, and hard work.
He is survived by four children: James Ray (Martha) Hines, Joann Catherine Carr, Jon Wayne Hines, and Jack Alan (Ann) Hines; 20 grandchildren: Barnabas Ray (Eryn) Hines, Ethan (Kindrea) Hines, Aaron Hines, Titus (Joanna) Hines, Isaiah, Theophilus (Suzanne) Hines, Seth Hines, Jonathan Carr, Jacqueline Brown, Jason Brown, and Elaine, Samantha, Sarah, Levi, Caleb Ray, Noah, David, Grace, John Quincy and Elijah Hines; and nine great-grandchildren: Emma, Kyrin, Adelai, Corah, Avery, Ian, Lynniah Brown, Leticia Brown, and Madeline Catanzarite; and two more great-grandchildren on the way; and a sister: Gloria Carter, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Faye Hines; his stepmother: Miriam; his brothers: Arthur and Edward Hines; and his wife: Verna.
Visitation will be held at from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Ind. Services will be performed at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in the funeral home by Pastor Tom Julien. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26.
