Betty Lou Hire, 71, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Goshen Hospital.

She was born Oct. 24, 1941, the daughter of the late Arthur Dale & Marcella Virginia (Keim) Coy. On June 27, 1958, she married David Ray Hire, he survives.

She is also survived by three children: Greg (Melanie) Hire, Goshen, Ind.; Trent (Brenda) Hire, Ligonier, Ind.; and Jennifer Christian, Ligonier; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Wanda Brown,  Goshen; Virginia (Michael) Wyland, Milford, Ind.; and Pat (Arthur) Horn, Mentone, Ind.; three sisters-in-law: Gwen Coy, Arlington, Texas; Janet Coy, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Sandra Hartman, Albion, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings, Arthur Dale Coy Jr., Marvin Ray Coy, & foster Brother, George Carter.

Betty was a lifetime member of Richville United Methodist Church and was also a member the Timber Ridge Golf Club. She retired from nursing in 2003, was very devoted to her family and loved to golf.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, with Pastor Tamra Gerber officiating at Richville United Methodist Church, 11009 CR 50 Route 1; Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will follow at Hire Cemetery in Benton Township.
