Amish Targeted By Armed Robbers
Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s held in identifying suspects who were involved in two separate robberies that occurred earlier this morning outside of Nappanee.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. two male suspects in a light colored passenger car confronted Merle Miller, 29, who was riding his bicycle on CR 54 east of CR 9. The suspects, ages 20 to 30 years old, allegedly pointed a long rifle at Miller and demanded money from him. Merle rode away from the suspects, who did not get any money. The suspects fled east on CR 54.
At approximately 7 a.m. on CR9 north of CR 38, two male suspects in a vehicle similar to the one described by Miller, approached Nelson Martin, 21, who was also riding his bicycle. After confronting Martin and demanding money, the suspects obtained an undetermined amount of money from him and left the area headed south on CR 9.
The ECSD is asking anyone with information on the crimes or the suspects involved to call 574-533-4151.
