UPDATE: Meth Lab Found At Hotel
Warsaw and Indiana State Police were called to the Economy Inn in Warsaw today where they located two one-pot methamphetamine labs and a handgun.
Warsaw PD drug officers received an anonymous tip this morning referencing illegal drug activity at a local motel. The tipster also said there were subjects wanted on warrants at the hotel.
Located in Room 139 were two methamphetamine labs, finished methamphetamine product, as well as precursors used in the production of the drug. Also found in the room were other illegal drugs and a stolen handgun.
A search warrant was obtained for the search and seizure of the illegal items. Two subjects, both wanted on warrants, were detained and later charged with their pending warrants, as well as drug charges associated with possession and production of methamphetamine, both felonies.
Justin Michael Lewallen, 30, of North Webster, and Chelsea Rashell Wools, 18, of Syracuse, were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on drug charges as Class A felonies. The charges were enhanced, due to the hotel’s proximity to a public housing project.
Warsaw Officers were assisted in the investigation by the Indiana State Police clean up team and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office.
Shortly before noon, police officers evacuated all rooms adjacent to and above Room 139 due to the possibility of an explosion.
