Betty J. Evans, 83, of Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:25 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Vibra Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Betty was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., where she was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School, and a homemaker where she was a true helpmate for her husband Earl on the farm, always providing meals to all the men working in the field.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1928, in Warsaw to the late Edward A. Shirey and Flo Opal (Ellis) Shirey. On May 6, 1946, she was married to Ralph J. Evans, who survives in Warsaw, Ind.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Larry (Joyce) Evans, Warsaw; and three daughters: Sandra E. (Marvin) Flanery, Claypool, Ind.; Sue E. (Robert) Conley, Warsaw; Sonja (Karl) Beck, Rochester, Ind.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister: Delores Harman, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Terry Bradford. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
