Jim Thompson, 60, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at the IU Goshen Hospital on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1951, in Paulding, Ohio, to Carl and Dorothy (Sutton) Thompson. On April 15, 1978, he married Becky Reese, who survives.

He moved to Syracuse in 1972 coming from Paulding. He served as the vice president of the UAW #1405 for many years and retired from Dana after 28 years.

He is survived by his wife: Becky Thompson, Syracuse; a son: Steven (Lisa) Thompson, Syracuse; and a brother: Bob (Pat) Thompson, Syracuse.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Richard Thompson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 1 pm at the funeral home.  Pastor Brad Cox will officiate services.  Burial will follow at the Solomon Creek Cemetery.
