Stichter, Robinson Compete At Semistate
FORT WAYNE – Reid Stichter and Breanna Robinson of Wawasee completed their cross country seasons Saturday in the New Haven Semistate.
Stichter, a senior, placed 19th overall in the boys race in the meet held at IPFW. Stichter clocked in a time of 16:29.
Junior Zachery Panning of Fort Wayne Concordia won the boys race in a time of 15:37.
The top six teams and the top 15 individuals in each of the boys and girls races Saturday advance to the State Finals next Saturday in Terre Haute.
Fort Wayne Carroll won the boys semi state team title. Homestead was second, followed by Fort Wayne Dwenger, Northridge, Goshen and Mishawaka as the top six and state qualifiers.
Sophomore Robinson was 50th overall in the girls field in a time of 20:24.
Mishawaka sophomore Anna Rohrer won the girls race in a state record time of 17:04. Her effort surpassed the old state standard of 17:06, which was set earlier in the day on Saturday by Warsaw senior Ashley Erba in the New Prairie Semistate.
Fort Wayne Carroll also won the girls team title. Northridge was second with Fort Wayne Concordia third, followed by Penn, Homestead and Huntington North as the top six to earn a State Finals berth.
Both Stichter and Robinson earned a spot in the semi state by placing in the top 15 at the Elkhart Regional last Saturday at Ox Bow Park. Stichter was eighth in the boys race in 16:18, while Robinson placed 13th in the girls race in 19:42.
