Duane F. Smith
Duane F. Smith, 67, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6:09 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 15, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., to Claude and Edna (Motts) Smith. He graduated in 1964 from Central High School, South Bend, then joined the United States Navy. CT02 Duane Francis Smith was honorably discharged on July 31, 1973.
He married Marjorie J. Kelker, June 8. 1974, in Fort Wayne.
He worked as a trouble shooter for Magnavox for 37 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and loved his church and church family. He was in scouting as a young boy from Tiger Cubs to Webelos. He enjoyed photography, reading and comedy movies. He was devoted to his wife and daughter, had a strange sense of humor, was very patriotic to the country he loved and his cats and dogs were part of his beloved family.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife: Marjorie Smith, Warsaw; a daughter: Jeanne (Matt) Scott, Warsaw; a sister: Claudia Kickdorf, Niles, Mich.; a niece: Lisa Metz, Canada; a nephew: DeWayne Smith, Niles, Mich.; and a step-grandson: Ryan Scott, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Edna Smith; a brother-in-law: Kenneth Kickdorf; and several beloved pets.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service will follow at noon in the funeral home with Dr. Larry Overstreet, First Baptist Church, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Ind.
