Both groups are vying for the title of having read the most books. The winning library gets treated to a pizza party provided by the “losing” library.
Summaries of the books read must be turned into the Youth Services Desk by 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. The final count will be tallied, and the winner announced on Oct. 23. Stay tuned and find out who wins.
Pumpkin Palooza
The teens will take a short break from reading for a Pumpkin Palooza at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. What’s a Pumpkin Palooza? It’s a fun time of decorating pumpkins and sampling all kinds of pumpkin treats.
The NWPL will provide the pumpkins and decorating supplies, along with the pumpkin yummies. The decorated pumpkins will be photographed and the photos posted so patrons can vote for their favorite pumpkin creation throughout the month. Stop in the Youth Services Dept. and cast your single vote. The winner will be announced Nov. 1 and presented with a giant candy bar.
Children’s Activities
The students at The Ark Preschool in North Webster will be treated to Story Time by Mrs. Pam, who will visit the preschool at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, while Mrs. B will pay a visit at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23.
During fall break kids and their families will find entertainment at Family Movie Time at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Showing will be an animated comedy about a lion, zebra, hippo, and giraffe who join a circus and travel through Europe as they struggle to get home to New York.
Adult Activities
In the Adult Services Department, the Voyager Book Club meets at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, to discuss a biography each member has read. Next month they will be discussing any book of their choice.
The Local History and Genealogy Center will present the fourth installment of the “We Remember” War Series at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, when World War II veteran Don Chilcote will speak on the Philippine Resistance Movement and his experience working with Filipino guerrillas during World War II.
As a special treat, the Revolving Recipe Round-Up group will also meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, and will be providing appetizers to those attending “We Remember”. So be sure to attend to learn more about World War II and enjoy Revolving Recipe Round-Up at the same time.
