Wawasee’s struggles in the Northern Lakes Conference continued Thursday night, losing at NorthWood 25-17, 25-11, 27-25.
The Lady Warriors fall to 1-5 in NLC play and 17-14 overall while having won just twice in the past 10 court appearances. With the win, NorthWood moves to 22-5 overall and 6-1 in the NLC.
Hunter Gaerte and Kaitlin Goines combined for 16 kills while Gaerte and Anne Beer provided 30 digs to the Wawasee cause. Alli Ousley chipped in 15 assists and four kills.
“A great third game with tremendous effort. We continue to improve and prepare for the tournament,” said Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips.
Tia Long and Mikala Mawhorter combined for 24 digs and Mawhorter and Paige Hlutke added 10 kills, but the Lady Warriors (12-9) fell to NorthWood 25-16, 25-21 in JV volleyball.
Wawasee will be at home for its final two regular season matches, next Tuesday against Triton and Thursday with Northridge in the final NLC contest. Wawasee and NorthWood will both participate in the Fairfield Volleyball Sectional, which begins Thursday, Oct. 18.
