Janet M. ‘Sissy’ Stahly
Janet M. “Sissy” Stahly, 75, Nappanee, Ind., died peacefully to be with the Lord at LuAnn Nursing Home on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at 3:02 p.m.
She was born April 23, 1937, in Wakarusa, Ind., to Aaron Jacob Mattern and Erma Nettrouer Mountz. She married Dwight D. Stahly on March 31, 1956, in Angola. He preceded her in death Feb. 31, 1990. She graduated from Nappanee High School.
She owned Dixie Cream Donuts in the 1970’s and 1980’s in La Porte, Ind. She also worked at Kroger Supermarket in La Porte. Janet loved children and growing flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, and was an animal lover. She had a smile for anyone and loved to help others. She had a very strong faith in God.
Surviving are sons: Bruce (Linda) Stahly, Laporte; Brad Stahly, Arizona; a grandson: Sean Stahly, Crawfordsville, Ind.; and sister, Linda (Brent J.) Blough, Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Gerald “Jerry” Mattern; and an infant sibling.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. Her brother-in-law, Rev. Brent Blough and Chaplain Odell Hughes, will officiate. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery.
