Donald L. Corl
Donald L. Corl, 76, of Syracuse, Ind., formerly of Bremen, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his residence.
Donnie was born on Sept. 15, 1935, in Bremen to Evertt and Bertha (Flory) Corl. He married Marcia Edel on Sept. 17, 1955; she survives.
Donnie graduated from Bremen High School in 1953 where he met and married the love of his life, Marcia. He loved boat racing, building his first boat while in high school, eventually introducing his family to the sport, which they still enjoy today. He was a pioneer of the bath tub and manufactured housing industries.
Donnie loved to fish; living on Lake Wawasee, he and his wife would fish every day, no matter the weather. He was affectionately known as “the fish man.” Family was everything to Donnie; he took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Marcia; six children: Tim Corl, Tammy (Dr. John) Kratzer, Trudy (Dave) Pittman, Tracy Corl, Todd (Susan) Corl, Tricia (Rob) Koontz; 12 grandchildren: Jaxon (Sarah) Swain, Jesse Swain, Jordan Swain, Jill (Randy) Wagoner, Allison Verhaeghe, Uriah (Dee Dee) Pittman, Preston Pittman, Marci Clingenpeel, Justin Corl, Alec Corl, Ruby Koontz, Brad Koontz; and three great grandchildren: Garrett, Ragen and Sadie Jo; a brother: Richard (Barbara) Corl; and two sisters: Betty (Glen) Eldridge and Evelyn Corl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Robert Verhaeghe.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 W. 900 N., Milford. Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home with Pastor James Mishler officiating. A private burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
