Intermittent Lane Restrictions On SR 15
Although SR 15 at Claypool opened this morning after being closed for bridge replacement work since Feb. 20, the Indiana Department of Transportation announces motorists can still expect intermittent lane restrictions for the next month.
INDOT spokeswoman Mary Foster told StaceyPageOnline.com last week that work will be ongoing in the shoulder area until the end of September. That means motorists may still endure some lane restrictions at times. Drivers should use caution in the area, and be aware of workers and traffic control devices such as barrels, cones and flaggers.
For the Labor Day holiday weekend, however, INDOT has removed all travel restrictions in the area.
SR 15 was closed to accommodate replacement of the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, approximately 4 miles north of SR 14. The bridge required rehabilitation for continued safety to the traveling public.
The new bridge design improves sight distance for better safety at CR 700 South intersections, which are located just north and south of the bridge. Additionally, added height to the new bridge design increases safety for the railroad, as well as motorists.
