Eleanor J. Price
Eleanor J. Price, 95, of Syracuse, In., passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at The Meadows Nursing Home in Warsaw, Ind.
She was born Dec. 15, 1916, in LaGrange, Ind., to Clayton L. and Nina V. (Frick) Hunter.
She lived in LaGrange during her early years and graduated in 1937 from Wawaka High School. She was married on July 28, 1940 in Cosperville, Ind., Charles Edward “Ed” Price who preceded her on March 25, 2005, and had moved to Syracuse in 1959 from Howe, Ind. She retired on May 1, 1982 from Monsanto in Ligonier after 23 years and was formerly employed at Master Garment in Ligonier, Ind.
She was a member of the North Webster Church of God where she was active in the Tuesday Ladies Bible Study. She was formerly on the Ladies Bowling League in Syracuse and enjoyed ballroom and square dancing.
She is survived by three daughters: Dee Ann Pifer, Syracuse, Ind.; Gloria Edwards, Auburn, Ind; Sandi (George) Lung, Pierceton, Ind.; two sons: Larry (Anita) Price, Cromwell, Ind.; Gary (Sharon) Price, Syracuse; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, 5 sisters: LaVancha Inks, Mary Renner, June Klausing, Lois Snowberger and Helen Sylvester; and three brothers: Roman Hunter, William Hunter, Junior Hunter.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Ind.
