Ferguson Arraigned On Stabbing Charge
The suspect in a Tuesday night stabbing appeared in court this morning to be arraigned on a class C felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
Kenny Ferguson, 61, 12021 N. Raggedy Ann, Cromwell, is accused of stabbing 27-year-old Joseph Lee Coon with a box cutter. Indiana State Police are investigating the case but have not released a possible motive for the violent act.
Superior Court I Judge Duane Huffer appointed Ferguson a court-appointed attorney while he takes the matter of indigence under advisement. Ferguson said he is unemployed and receives Social Security disability of approximately $1,546 per month.
In Indiana, a class C felony carries a punishment of from 2 years to 8 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
A plea of not guilty was entered on behalf of Ferguson. He was ordered to appear for a status hearing at 11:40 a.m. Sept. 10, and a pre-trial conference at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 29.
Ferguson remains in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,000 surety bond.
