With all of its necessary permits in place and road work along U.S. 30 nearly finished, construction on the new Meijer store is expected to start as early as next week.

Ground for the new building is already moved and prepped for the heavy work to begin. Meijer’s target date for opening the new store is June 2013.

Warsaw’s newest discount store has created a new Facebook page to promote the goods and services shoppers can expect to find. Among them, the store will have its own gas station where it promises to lower area gas prices.

Turn lanes from U.S. 30 were recently completed under permits from Indiana Department of Transportation. General contractor Rockford Construction hired Phend & Brown of Milford to install a new turn lane and the entrance to the future store.

To get that work done, the highway was reduced to one lane in both the east and westbound lanes from the U.S. 30 overpass in the eastbound lane to Spring Hill Road in the westbound lane. That work, however, has now been completed.
