Max L. Nifong
Max L. Nifong, 77, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester, Ind., surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong resident of the Marshall and Kosciusko counties area, Max farmed for over 34 years and was always involved in sales and real estate, retiring in 2009.
Max enjoyed the company of others and opportunities to share his love for the Lord. He took joy in traveling with Doris and their family and friends. He was a member of Camp Creek Church of the Brethren and attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church and member of The Gideon’s International.
Max was born the son of Truman and Margaret Metheny Nifong on March 18, 1935. He graduated from Etna Green High School. On Jan. 24, 1953, Max was joined in marriage to Doris Stackhouse.He is survived by his wife: Doris Nifong, Warsaw; their children: Steve (Jody) Nifong, Etna Green, Ind.; Cindy (Lee) Money, Greenwood, Ind.; Everett (Bobbi) Nifong, Warsaw; and son-in-law: Tim Scott, Greentown; nine grandchildren: Kim (Garrett) Howell, Melissa (Corey) Branam, Chad (Emily) Nifong, Josh (Jessica) Nifong, Jared Nifong, Alison Scott, Ashley Scott, Hillary Money, and Adam Money and seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Anna Mae Gay, Carmel, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kathy Scott; and a sister: Lois Hall.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Camp Creek Church of the Brethren, Etna Green. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Camp Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mark Riege of Camp Creek Church of the Brethren, and Pastor Gale Janofski and Pastor Andrew Weaver, both of Warsaw Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Bourbon.
