The two at-large seats on the Wawasee Community School Corp. Board of Trustees are up for election in November. Filing began July 25 and will close at noon Friday, Aug. 24.

These seats are currently held by Mike Wilson, District 1 (Tippecanoe Township), and George Gilbert, District 2 (Turkey Creek Township). Both have filed for re-election.

Any resident within the Wawasee Community School Corporation can file his/her candidacy as long as the individual meets the age and residency requirements. Information on filing is available at the WCSC administration office and at the county clerk’s office. Candidates who file will be asked
to file under the school’s districts in which he/she resides.

Wilson, current board president, had served one term on the board on the district seat before losing the 2010 election, however, he was appointed to the at-large seat in late 2010, following the death of Dallas Winchester.

Gilbert is seeking his third term. He was appointed to the board in 2004 following the resignation of Jeff Wells.
