Carl L. Hepler
Carl L. Hepler Sr., 82, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 1 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Mason Health & Rehab in Warsaw.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Nappanee, Ind., to Willard and Anna (Cripe) Hepler.
He was a lifetime Elkhart and Kosciusko County area resident and attended West Millwood and Carris Country School. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. On Sept. 20, 1953, in Leesburg, Ind., he married Rebecca L. “Becky” Hawkins, who survives.
He was a retired farmer, formerly worked at Weatherhead Corp. in Syracuse and was a self employed painter. He was also the former owner / operator of Carl’s Drive Inn in Milford; Dairy Queen in Syracuse and the Syracuse Bakery. He attended New Testament Baptist Church in Goshen, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening.
He is survived by his wife: Becky; three sons: Carl Jr. (Cathy) Hepler, Warsaw; Phillip Hepler, Larwill, Ind.; Todd (Vickie) Hepler, Warsaw; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister: Anna Lou (Gene) Teeter, Warsaw; and brother: Richard “Dick” (Delores) Hepler, Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Donnie Hepler.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home on Sunday with Pastor Michael Aman of the church officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to the New Testament Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
