Syracuse BZA Lacks a Quorum
A lack of quorum resulted in three cases being tabled at Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals meeting last Thursday night. There were three petitions for variances on the agenda. Dan List and Larry Coplen were the only board members present. Out of the five members, there must be three members to conduct business.
Pitka Club Inc. filed a petition for a variance. The petitioner wants to allow a commercial accessory building (10 feet by 20 feet) to be constructed on an existing concrete slab five feet from the north property line. The property is located at 414 S. Sycamore St. Pitka Club Inc. was the only petitioner present at the meeting.
Wawasee Plaza LLC’s petition was for a variance is to allow the change and alternation to a previously granted variance by allowing two additional residential apartments to be added to the existing approved uses. The property is located at 101 E. Main St.
Brookpoint Holdings is also petitioning for a variance. The petitioner wants to allow an off-premise sign to be located closer then 300 feet to public use and residential districts and closer then 250 feet to an intersection. The property is located at 201 E. Medusa St.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Syracuse Town Hall, when the cases will be re-presented.
