Emergency responders were called to West Main Street in Mentone on Monday where a car accident resulted in entrapment.

The crash happened at the intersection of West Main Street (SR 25) and SR 19 at approximately 7:30 p.m. July 23.

According to the police report, Simon N. Kaitei, 32, of Goshen, was northbound on SR 19 and failed to stop for a stop sign. According to witnesses, Kaitei was driving at a high rate of speed. His vehicle collided with a vehicle that was eastbound on SR 25, driven by Amberly Taylor, 19, of Tippecanoe.

Taylor was treated for head pain. Two passengers in Kaitei’s car, Eunice Kaitei, 26, and Nancy Kaitei, both of Goshen, were taken to an area hospital for, respectively, treatment of chest pain and minor head bleeding.
