Kosciusko Eateries on State’s Foodie Trail
A diverse—and delicious—range of local restaurants were selected for the first-ever Northern Indiana Foodie Trail, launched this month by the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission in partnership with Midwest Living magazine.
Twenty-eight restaurants from seven counties made the cut to be included on the trail, which provides visitors to Northern Indiana with an easy-to-follow guide highlighting some of the best non-chain restaurants in the area. Visitors can download the Northern Indiana Foodie Trail guide on the NITDC website at www.NorthernIndianaGetaways.com. The guide booklet includes an easy-to-follow map pointing out restaurant locations, along with descriptions and contact information for each restaurant.
“We wanted to celebrate the diversity of tastes and flavors that make this region special. What better way to do that than by creating a foodie trail featuring the restaurants and foods unique to Northern Indiana?” said NITDC Executive Director Dan Bearss. “This is a guide foodies will love. Visitors to this area can pick up the guide and navigate their way to some of Northern Indiana’s top restaurants.”
NITDC, in collaboration with the convention and visitors bureaus of Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Marshall, Elkhart, Kosciusko and LaGrange counties, nominated restaurants for inclusion on the trail. Their nominations were influenced by input from residents in their respective communities collected through a Facebook campaign. The final Northern Indiana Foodie Trail list was selected by the editors of Midwest Living and reflects the region’s wide variety of foods and locations.
Additionally, Midwest Living will produce a series of interactive slideshows and blogs to promote the culinary scene in each of the seven counties. These will be featured on the NITDC website now through December.
