John R. Amburgy, 54, of Rochester, Ind., passed away at 2:38 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1957, in Prestonburg, Ky., to Charles D. and Velma (Newsome) Amburgy. On Aug. 27, 2005, in married Kattie Yates Miller in Warsaw.

He was a general laborer in different area companies and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing, playing chess and the Chicago Cubs.

Mr. Amburgy is survived by his wife: Kattie Amburgy, Rochester; two sons: Johney (Jackie) Amburgy, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Corey (Mariah) Amburgy, Fort Wayne; a daughter: Rachael Amburgy, Mentone, Ind.; a sister: Willa Pitts, Warsaw, Ind.; three brothers: Harlan Amburgy, Mentone, Ind.; Phillip (Tina) Amburgy, Rochester; and Rick Amburgy, Fort Wayne.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, in the funeral home with Pastor Dean Ealey. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
