Motocross Races Slated For Red Bud
One of the most popular stops on the Professional Motocross Tour is set for Saturday (July 7) at the Red Bud Track in nearby Buchanan, Michigan.
The Red Bud MX, part of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, will hit the track for the 38th time. The stop is the midpoint for the 12-race, 2012 season. The event routinely draws between 20-30,000 spectators each year to Red Bud.
Racing starts at noon with the 450, 250 and WMX classes starting at 1 p.m. Gates open to spectators at 6 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children ages 6-11.
Expected to compete in the 450 class are Ryan Dungey and Mike Alessi, who currently rank 1-2 respectively in the points standings. Also expected to race is James Stewart, a former winner at Red Bud who has been sidelined recently due to an injury. Chad Reed won the 450 class a year ago at Red Bud, while Dungey was second and Alessi fifth.
NBC will telecast part of the action from Red Bud on Sunday (July 8) from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
