Winifred ‘Winnie’ M. Landa
Winifred “Winnie” M. Landa, 88, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, Grace Village Health Care.
She was born on March 10, 1924, in Winona Lake, Ind., to Ruth and Fred King. On Feb. 23, 1946, she was married to Alexander Landa, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Winifred served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post #49 of Warsaw. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and worked for many years at Word Music in Winona Lake. Winnie was a homemaker, and a 30 year auxiliary volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw. She was a member of Winona Lake Presbyterian Church and Church of the Good Shepherd in Winona Lake.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Claudia (Douglas) Wrobel, Winona Lake; four grandchildren: David Creighton; Brandon (Rachelle) Creighton; Tara Creighton; Kerri (Chris) Wilson; and four great-grandchildren: Shelly Creighton; Brady Creighton; Tristan Wilson; Preston Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.. Thursday, July 5, at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw and officiated by Don Locke. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard.
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
