Laymon F. Chesney
Laymon F. Chesney, 72, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1940, in Anderson, Ind., to Kenneth R. and Iona M. (Foreman) Chesney.
He graduated in 1957 from Summitville High School in Summitville, Ind., and was married in June 1957 to Connie Owens who preceded him in death in January 1997. He then married Renita L. (Price) Gordon on May 12, 1998, in North Webster and she survives. He moved to Warsaw / North Webster area 34 years ago from central Indiana and retired in 1994 from Central Trucking Co. in Kokomo, Ind. He was formerly a realtor for Lucas Realty before retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren, Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association and formerly attended North Webster Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Renita Chesney, Warsaw; a son: Scott (Jan) Chesney, Indianapolis; two step-sons: Mark (Jessica) Gordon, and Thomas (Charity) Gordon, both of Warsaw; eight grandchildren; his mother: Iona Chesney, Warsaw; a sister: Karon Silvey, Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his father; a son: Greg Chesney; and a grandson: Bo Chesney.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the North Webster Church of the Brethren with Pastor Bob Wyman of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
