Trojans Pile Up Runs In Win
Bryson Mosier led the hit parade as Triton mashed Michigan City Marquette Catholic 21-11 in first-round baseball action of the Class 1-A Culver Sectional Friday.
Mosier had three hits, including a grand slam homer, and drove in six runs to lead the Trojans.
Triton (12-15) advances to play host Culver Monday. Oregon-Davis meets South Central at 10 a.m. with Triton-Culver to follow in semifinal play. The championship game is slated for Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Culver.
Pete Kauffman also had a big game for Triton with three hits and three RBI. The Trojans totaled 15 hits and were hit by pitches nine times in the contest. Marquette finishes its season 5-20.
Erik Hoffman and Keita Morikawa each had two hits for Triton. The Trojans took control by scoring 10 runs in the fourth inning of the five-inning game.
Culver, which has bounced back after starting the season 0-12, advanced to the semifinals by topping Westville 4-3 Thursday. The Cavaliers have won eight of their last 12 games.
Triton beat fellow Northern State Conference member Culver 4-1 and 11-7 during their two league meetings in the regular season.
