Hubert Wayne Sturgill
Hubert Wayne Sturgill, 61, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at his home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Stonega, VA., to James and Belvia (Hayes) Sturgill. He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 14, 1969, and served in Viet Nam with the 11th Calvary Regiment – Black Horse; Specialist 5. Hubert Wayne Sturgill was honorably discharged April 28, 1978. He then worked as a coal miner with Westmoreland Coal Co. retiring in 1993. He was a life member of the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Viet Nam and Cambodia.
He is survived by four sons: Robert (Cheryl Wise) Sturgill, Goshen, Ind.; Noah Sturgill, North Webster, Ind.; Joseph (Elaine) Sturgill, Warsaw; James (Leslie) Sturgill, Warsaw; a daughter: Donata Sturgill, Colimbia City, Ind.; four sisters: Jenny Rogers, Indianapolis; Nellie Fryman, Indianapolis; Marie Wright, Louisa, Ky.; Alice Hughes, Syracuse, Ind.; a brother: Ray Sturgill, Syracuse; and a grandson: Nicholas Godsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson: Christopher Sturgill.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Titus Funeral Home with Mr. Rex Sheeley. Military graveside honors will be by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126 at Oakwood Cemetery.
