NorthWood 3rd, Warsaw 5th In Canterbury Golf Invite
FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw and NorthWood girls golf teams each continued their seasons Monday by competing in the Fort Wayne Canterbury Invitational.
The Panthers, ranked No. 18 in the latest coaches poll, fired a team total of 350 to place third in the seven-team event contested the par 72 layout at the Chestnut Hills Golf Course.
The Tigers took fifth place in the final team standings with team total of 392 on the day.
Mackenzie Weaver of the Panthers led her team with a round of 81, good for a fifth place finish among individuals in the invite field.
Morgan Dabagle of Homestead captured individual medalist honors with a two-under round of 70.
The Homestead Gold team, which is ranked No. 6 in the coaches poll, captured the team title by shooting a 301. The Homestead Blue team was runner-up with a 337, followed by NorthWood A (350), Carroll (377), Warsaw (392), NorthWood B (396) and Fort Wayne Snider (403).
Madison Richner shot an 88 for NorthWood, while Abby Slabaugh came in at 90. Makenna Gall had a 91 and Kylee Gall a 96 for coach Adam Yoder’s team.
The duo of Grayson Kilburn and Delaney Wihebrink each shot a 97 to pace the Tigers.
Madelyn Ray fired a 98, while Izzy Ray finished with a 100 and Miriam Hagg a 106 for coach Tad Nieter’s squad.
Abigail Richner led the NorthWood B team with a 91. Hope Cripe shot a 96, while Kirsten Schrock had a 100 and Delaney Davis a 109 for the Panthers.
Warsaw and NorthWood both return to action Tuesday. Warsaw will face West Noble in a 9-hole match at South Shore in Syracuse. The Panthers will take part in the New Prairie Invitational at the Legacy Hills Golf Course in LaPorte.
