McConnell’s Kindness
Dear Editor,
As you’re hopefully aware, local attorney Travis McConnell is running for prosecutor in Kosciusko County. He’s an excellent, intelligent and qualified candidate, but this letter is about a recent action showing his kindness to other people.
A close friend of mine is in Warsaw, visiting family. He has a small child, and their family Tooth Fairy tradition is to leave a single, golden Sacagawea dollar coin for the lost tooth. When the child unexpectedly lost a baby tooth, well into the evening and past bank hours, away from home, my friend found himself without a suitable coin. He texted me to ask if I had any. I did not, but my friend Travis did. When I explained the situation to him, Travis invited my friend to visit his home then and there, despite the late hour, to collect the needed coin. He’d never met my friend in his life but was willing to do this favor to help their family out.
Elected officials need to be intelligent and qualified, but they also need empathy and kindness for others, as public servants. Consider this one more good reason, among many, to elect Travis as our prosecutor.
