Pierceton Days To Celebrate ‘Christmas In July’
Staff Report
PIERCETON — Those headed to this weekend’s Pierceton Days Festival can enjoy “Christmas in July.”
That’s the theme of the festival set for Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30. Festival organizer Alicia Mediano said the theme was chosen related to the town’s “Christmas In Pierceton: Untangled” Christmas decorations volunteer committee.
“This group has raised significant funds to help make Pierceton a destination during the holiday season,” she said. “We are excited to celebrate their effort and bring to light the further need for support.”
“We all love the holidays because of the focus we put on bringing families together, and our Pierceton Days Festival focus is just that … a family-friendly festival,” she added. “We want you to be able to bring your children and never worry about their safety while their hearts are overwhelmed with … fun!”
Mediano noted the festival has many free activities, including the kids’ activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Those include face painting, caricatures, balloon animals and more.
“We will be providing bounce houses throughout the park again this year that only cost $5 per day for a wristband to enjoy the entire day,” she said.
New this year is a motorcycle, boat and vintage camper show in downtown Pierceton from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
“With no entry fee, we are encouraging all those with any pride in their product to come display to show their efforts in preserving these items,” said Mediano. “We will also be giving away a ‘People’s Choice’ in each category, so we encourage the public to come join us in voting for their favorite!”
Another new activity is ax-throwing in Brower Park, which will be Friday and Saturday. People can pay $10 to throw an ax 10 times, which includes typical axes, ones that stick from suction cup and blown-up ones.
Mediano noted that the Pierceton Fire Department will host their annual cornhole tournament Saturday as well as their 50/50 raffle during the weekend.
