Empty Fuel Tanker Collides With Van
News Release
PLYMOUTH — Scott Krull, 60, Culver, suffered unknown injuries after his vehicle struck the back of a semitractor/trailer hauling an empty fuel tanker.
The crash occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, on US 31, south of 13th Road at the railroad tracks south of Plymouth.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received the call about the two-vehicle crash that involved a Chevrolet van and the semitractor/trailer. The southbound lanes of US 31 were shut down while a crash reconstruction was performed and EMS could safely evaluate the situation.
Authorities determined the semitractor/trailer, driven by Bart Bomback, 49, Indianapolis, was stopped at the railroad tracks yielding for possible trains. Krull failed to change his lane of travel and drove his van into the rear of the tanker.
The Samaritan Medical Helicopter was requested to transport Krull. Bomback reported no injuries at the time.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Samaritan, Plymouth Fire and EMS, Argos Police Department and Indiana State Police.
