Barbara Jo Bahney — UPDATED
Barbara Jo Bahney, 84, rural Macy, passed surrounded by family at her home on Monday, July 4, 2022.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1937, in Peru, to the late Floyd and Lavina (Hahn) Mygrant. She married on Feb. 18, 1956, in Peru, to John L. Bahney; he survives.
She was a 1956 graduate of Peru High School. She was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm. She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She also was a member of a Quilting Club and enjoyed camping and playing cards, especially euchre.
She is survived by her husband: John Bahney, Macy; daughters: Karen (Kevin) Wilson, Walton; Sandy (Steve) Linn, Macy; and Tammy (Mayo) Medina, Fulton; sons: Allen (Lane) Bahney, Macy; Tim (Jane) Bahney, Akron; and Ted (Missy) Bahney, Wabash; grandchildren: Sara (Kyle) Thomas, Dusty (Sharon) Linn, Misty (Justin) VanderIest, Ashley (John) Stamper, Shaun (Brooke) Wetzel, Alex (Hannah) Bahney, Eric Linn, Nick Wilson, Kellie (Jacob) Hutchison, Nate (Janay) Wilson, Hannah and Jessica Bahney, Aaron (Nicole) Bahney, Khyla (Jake) Goodman, Garrett Bahney, Emily Bahney, and Clayton Bahney; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Alice Berkheiser, Mary Jenkins, Martha Akers, Bonnie Mygrant, Molly Saltz, and Evelyn McMahan; and brothers: Elbert “Bud” Mygrant and Everett Mygrant.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Rev. Wayne Balmer officiating.
The interment will take place following the service in the Gilead Cemetery, Gilead.
Visitation hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
