UPDATE: Mishawaka Woman Killed In US 30 Accident

ATWOOD — A Mishawaka woman was killed in a vehicle accident on US 30.
At 12:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, Atwood Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident on US 30, east of CR 500W. Preliminary investigative results indicate that Kathy Harmon, 47, Mishawaka, was traveling east on US 30 behind a semi tractor-trailer prior to the collision. Harmon was driving a 2011 Toyota Yaris.
According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, a westbound tractor-trailer crossed the center line and struck the trailer in front of Harmon, glancing off and hitting Harmon’s vehicle head-on in the median.
Harmon was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner.
US 30 is currently under construction. Both east and west traffic were using the westbound lanes of US 30 at the time of the accident. The eastbound lanes are shut down.
The investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
Responding agencies include KCSO, Atwood Fire Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Indiana State Police, Lutheran EMS, and the Kosciusko County Coroner. Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance was dispatched to respond but was later disregarded.
