WARSAW — With expansion underway that will make it a full-service hospital, officials with Parkview Warsaw are reaching out to the community seeking to add colorful, local touches to the facility’s decor.
“When Parkview Warsaw opened, we chose to include local photography for the art to give warmth and character to the facility,” said Scott Gabriel, president of Parkview Whitley Hospital and Parkview Warsaw. “Now we would like to expand that show of local pride and reflect life in Kosciusko County throughout the new hospital. We invite amateur and professional photographers to submit photos for consideration. Winning photos will become part of the healing environment at Parkview Kosciusko Hospital.”
There will be plenty of space for photography. The expansion plans creating PKH, originally announced in January 2020, were later updated to provide more comprehensive services — including inpatient care, surgery and specialty clinics — to better serve area patients. The 88,000 square-foot addition currently underway has four levels — three stories and a basement — and is located to the west of the current building.
On June 10, construction of the steel structure for the expansion was completed with a “Topping Out” ceremony. The final steel beam, which had been painted white so hospital co-workers could sign it with well wishes, was lowered into place on the structure as part of a tradition Parkview has followed with its new facilities for decades. The ceremony is a symbolic blessing, and a potted evergreen sitting atop the final beam as it is affixed to the structure symbolizes bringing life to the building.
Gabriel anticipates that Parkview Kosciusko Hospital will be operating as a full-service hospital by the summer of 2023.
Photographers are invited to submit photos that represent the rich heritage, beauty and diversity of the community. Images of landscapes and natural beauty, architecture, industry, people, places, sporting events or school and community activities will be considered — any appropriate subject reflecting the culture of Kosciusko County, past and present.
Chosen submissions will be matted, framed and displayed with pride within the hospital. Individuals whose photos are chosen will be informed of the selection and will receive photography credit on or near the photo as it is displayed in the hospital facility.
The deadline for photo submissions is Nov. 1, 2022. Photos should be submitted to [email protected].
