Two Vehicles Collide North Of Syracuse

SYRACUSE – Two vehicles collided Thursday, June 2, leaving two people temporarily trapped inside.
A passenger vehicle and a truck hauling a portable storage container crashed in the intersection of SR 13 and CR 50 north of Syracuse at round 12:15 p.m.
Benton Township Fire Department was called to the accident with a report of entrapment.
Syracuse-Turkey Creek EMS was called to provide medical support for two people in a Cadillac sedan, which sat in the middle of the intersection facing west. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. Approximately 100 yards north of the intersection, a truck carrying a PODS storage unit sat partially in a ditch on the east side of State Road 13.
According to scanner traffic, the two women had to be extricated from the Cadillac, but both refused ambulance transport. The driver of the truck appeared to be uninjured.
The truck appeared to be traveling northbound on SR 13 when it was struck in the side by the westbound Cadillac. Additional details will be shared following an official police report.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office deputies also reported to the scene.
