WARSAW — A Warsaw Community High School student is swimming 100 kilometers to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.
Beginning today, June 1, Rory Murphy, a member of WCHS’s swim team, will average swimming 14,285 meters per day until Tuesday, June 7.
In an email to InkFreeNews, Murphy says he averages 4,500 meters of swimming a day, with the most he’s ever swam in a day being 11,000 meters. If he fails in swimming a total of 100 kilometers (62.1 miles) by June 7, Murphy will pledge $100 to Heart to Heart International.
“I chose Heart to Heart International as my charity because they only take a 2% fundraising and administration cut and they have been very active in delivering much-needed aid to Ukraine,” said Murphy.
Those who want to donate to the cause can do so by visiting a GoFundMe page that Murphy has established.
