Swing On Downtown For The Optimist’s Car Show

WARSAW — The weather couldn’t be better for the 2022 City of Lakes Cruise-In, hosted by the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club. There is still time to come downtown Warsaw to see all makes and models of vehicles as the show continues until 5 p.m. Vehicles are on display on Buffalo Street between Market and Main streets and Center Street from Lake to Indiana streets.
Registration began at noon and as of 12:30 p.m. close to 125 vehicles had registered. Registration closes at 3 p.m. They are still expecting more vehicles to arrive.
All types of makes and models are on display including a 1925 Hupmobile Series E. The Hupmobile was built by the Hupp brothers in Detroit from 1909-1941 and Detroit’s first police car was a 1910. You can also see a 1922 Ford Model T centerdoor, and a 1983 AM General M925 truck.
If those don’t suit your taste, keep walking down Buffalo and Center streets. One block of Center Street is lined with Corvettes of all styles, while other makes and models are mingled through out four block area. You’ll find Thunderbirds, Grandsports, Hot rods, Cameros, Challengers, Reatta’s, Jaguar, Fiero, Trans Am, Super Sports, Monte Carlo’s, Mustangs, a Shelby, various trucks, and of course Toyota and Jeep models. There are a few motorcycles including Triumphs and a 2020 Vanderhall Venice.
The Lake Area Community Band will be performing around 3 p.m. on the courthouse lawn and Cub Scout Pack 3736 are selling hot dogs, chips, snack sticks and pickle on a stick, along with cold drinks.
