Helen Cox
Helen F. Cox, 86, Wabash (formerly of Akron), died at 4:10 pm, Monday, May 9, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Wabash where she had been a resident for 16 years.
She was born April 13, 1936, in Fulton County, along with her twin brother, Harold, to the late Paul and Aletha May (Clinker) Cox.
She was a 1954 graduate of Akron High School. She joined Olive Bethel Church of God at the age of 16, where she taught Sunday School. Helen helped for many years at the camp meeting at Yellow Creek Campground. She had worked for Topps Industries of Rochester as well as living on the farm. She lived with her parents all of her life and tended to their needs as well as her younger siblings. She enjoyed baking, especially her pineapple cake. Helen loved to read and enjoyed chicken and ducks. Her favorite duck was always Pedro.
Surviving are her sisters, Pauline (Ron) Meyer, North Manchester, Willodean (James) Zolman, Columbia City, Patsy (James) Carpenter, Rochester, Jean Kerby, Greentown and Jane (Wayne) Spratt, Silver Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Earl Cox, Milton Cox, Dale Cox, Floyd Cox, Genavee Snavely, Mary Etta Basham, Gail Grable, and twin infant Harrold Cox.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Brian Kratzer officiating, a nephew and pastor of the Bremen Church of God.
The interment will follow the funeral service in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
Visitation hours will be from noon-2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Hartzler Funeral Home.
