Robert W. Hepler — UPDATED
Robert W. “Bob” Hepler, 90, Syracuse, passed away at 8:57 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Bourbon, to Elmer and Florence (Marquart) Hepler.
He grew up in Bourbon, graduated from Bourbon High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on Feb. 13, 1960, in Warsaw, to Martha A. Fordyce who preceded him Oct. 14, 2008. He retired in 1994 from Mutschler Brothers in Nappanee, after 43 years as a cabinet maker. He formerly lived in the Milford and Leesburg area before moving to Syracuse.
He is survived by his daughters: Jo Hepler of Syracuse; Julie (Bruce Jones) Hepler of Syracuse; and Lori (Daniel) Schmatz of Mishawaka; grandchildren: Dustin (Amber Obacz) Hepler, Cody Hepler, Jordan (Rosemary) Hepler, Jenna Schmatz, Jacob Schmatz, Collin Schiffer, and Natalie Schiffer; great-grandchildren: Landon Elliott, Cole Hepler, Jaydon Schiffer, and Lia’yani Moore; sisters: Delores “Babe’ Hepler of Milford; Ruth Manges of Bremen; and Marilyn Shaw of Vernon, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter – Bobbi Schiffer, and brother – Gary Hepler .
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 29, in the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Milford with military honors.
