WARSAW — Preparations are continuing for a project on Anchorage Road.
At its meeting on Thursday, April 14, the Warsaw Board of Public Works & Safety approved right of way acquisitions and pay applications for it. The board met Thursday instead of Friday, April 15, due to city offices being closed April 15 for Good Friday.
Warsaw Community and Economic Development Director Jeremy Skinner told InkFreeNews after the meeting that the city was “hoping to bid (the project) out probably mid- to late 2023.”
That means work would most likely begin in 2024, he said.
“So it will be basically making it three lanes, with a center turn lane,” he said regarding the project. “There will be sidewalks and so forth along it. It won’t be lit, (but) there might be some intersection lighting.”
Skinner noted during the meeting that the three of the four land acquisitions for the project that the board ultimately approved were all donated, with two coming from Horizon Bank and one from Compass LP.
The fourth land acquisition approved came from Ting Rui Zhen and the city is paying $43,500 for it out of money generated from tax increment financing (TIF). The city plans to recoup part of the expense for that through the Indiana Department of Transportation.
The board also approved paying a total of $12,276.49 for professional services related to right of way and engineering. The city also plans to have some of those expenses reimbursed through INDOT.
In other business, the board:
- Approved allowing Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory to host classes by Dive Rescue International in August. WWFT also hosted them last year.
The board’s next meeting is 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Warsaw City Hall.
