Phyllis Ann Roberts — UPDATED
Phyllis Ann Roberts, 80, North Webster, passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1941, in Sidney, to Wilbur Jay and Edith Marie (Witham) Haney.
She graduated in 1959 from Sidney High School as Salutatorian, attended Manchester College in North Manchester, and graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake. She received her master’s degree from St. Francis University in Fort Wayne. She was married on Aug. 5, 1972, in Packerton, to Earl Lavon Roberts, who preceded her on May 16, 2010. She retired from Wawasee Community School Corporation where she taught third grade at North Webster Elementary for 36 years. After retirement she worked at Lance’s Food Market in North Webster and was co-owner/operator of Sonshine Preschool & Christian Academy in North Webster for 15 ½ years.
She grew up in Sidney and lived most of her life in the North Webster area. She attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church and formerly attended the North Webster Church of God. She was a member of the Indiana State Teacher’s Retirement and was a former member of the North Webster Lady Lions.
She is survived by a daughter: Wende Roberts, North Webster; three sisters: Rosemary Gagnon, North Manchester; Norma (Bert) Cramer, Culver; and Emma Duggins, South Whitley; three brothers: Ron (Jan) Haney, Wabash; Dale Haney, Hamilton, Ohio; and Jim (Jane) Haney, Leesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers: Glenn and Howard Haney.
A Celebration of Life service for Phyllis A. (Haney) Roberts, who passed away Jan. 29, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Hwy, Winona Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
