Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 4:18 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, South County Farm Road, south of East CR 700S, Warsaw. Driver: Dustin A. Everage, 38, North CR 200W, North Manchester. Everage was traveling north on South County Farm Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 8:06 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, South County Farm Road, north of East CR 700S, Claypool. Driver: Amanda L. Transparenti, 41, West CR 700S, Claypool. Transparenti was traveling south on South County Farm Road when an oncoming vehicle struck a deer. This resulted into the deer being thrown into her lane of travel. Damage up to $2,500.
- 3:26 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, West US 30, east of North SR 19, Etna Green. Drivers: Jack D. Smith, 41, East CR 575N, Twelve Mile; and Ociel C. Jaimes, 51, Leedy Street, Warsaw. Smith was traveling south on SR 19 and was entering an intersection when he hit Jaimes’ vehicle. A witness at the scene said he was traveling east on US 30 and saw Smith coming south on SR 19. He said he didn’t believe that Smith’s vehicle was going to stop and he slowed down. Smith and a passenger in his vehicle, Coltyn Smith, 10, Twelve Mile, were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for head pain and abdominal/pelvic pain. Two additional passengers in Smith’s vehicle, as well as Jaimes, were all taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for their injuries. Jaimes sustained contusions and bruises to his entire body. Ashley D. Smith, 38, Twelve Mile, complained of body pain; Qynley Smith, 6, Twelve Mile, complained of abdominal and pelvic pain. Damage up to $100,000.
- 10:13 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, East CR 400N, north of EMS B3 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Nicole D. Helman, 41, East Bond Street, North Webster. Helman was traveling north on East CR 400N when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a Nipsco utility pole. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, North CR 675E, north of EMS T2 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Taylor P. Jacobs, 25, East South Barbee Drive, Warsaw. Jacobs was traveling south on North CR 675E when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:53 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, East South Barbee Drive, west of EMS B22 Lane, Pierceton. Driver: Zachary P. Leedy, 20, EMS B27 Lane, Pierceton. Leedy was traveling west on East South Barbee Drive when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, East CR 600S, east of South Country Club Road, Claypool. Driver: Jazmen R. Jackson, 28, South CR 525E, Pierceton. Jackson was traveling west on East CR 600S when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 11:38 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, West CR 1350N, west of North CR 850W, Nappanee. Driver: Romona K. Schmucker, 68, West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Schmucker was traveling east on West CR 1350N when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a Nipsco utility pole. Schmucker complained of chest pain and was taken by medics to a local hospital. Her vehicle was also towed from the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
- 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 7506 E. 850N, Warsaw. Drivers: Patrick B. Murphy, 55, Gettysburg Court, Warsaw; and Clarence R. Mullins, 76, East Lapoint Drive, Milford. Murphy was backing his vehicle from a parking space when he hit Mullins’ vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 2:59 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 3970 E. 100N, west of North CR 400E, Warsaw. Driver: Brayden C. Moore, 20, East CR 200N, Pierceton. Moore was traveling west on East CR 100N when a vehicle pulled out in front of him at an intersection. This caused Moore to swerve his vehicle off the roadway into property at 3970 E. 100N, Warsaw. Moore’s vehicle hit the southeast side of the home at 3970 E. 100N, which is owned by Judy L. Baker. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
- 2:13 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, North CR 175E, south of East Beer Road, Milford. Driver: Austin Z. Vuittonet, 29, West CR 1250N, Milford. Vuittonet was traveling south on North CR 175E when his vehicle left the roadway due to slick conditions. His vehicle hit a utility pole head-on. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
Milford
Officers with the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 7:13 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, West CR 1250N, west of Creek Bend Lane, Milford. Driver: Sarah C. Stout, 31, M Dee Acres, Nappanee. Stout was traveling west on West CR 1250N when a cat entered the roadway. Stout swerved her vehicle to avoid hitting the cat, which resulted in her vehicle hitting a patch of ice and leaving the roadway. Her vehicle hit a utility box and power pole. Stout and a passenger in her vehicle, Carissa N. Fugate, 33, Milford, were treated at the scene for complaints of head pain. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 11:04 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 109 N. Huntington St., Syracuse. Driver: Cynthia B. Pritchard, 73, North Wenonah Drive, Syracuse. Pritchard was backing her vehicle from a parking space when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 2:57 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, US 30, west of SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Jacob R. Kizer, 53, East Center Street, Warsaw. Kizer was traveling west on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
- 12:21 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw. Drivers: Roger K. Hill, 58, West Baker Street, Warsaw; and Pedro Y. Garza, 50, North Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Hill and Garza were backing their vehicles at the same time when their vehicles collided. Damage up to $2,500.
- 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2862 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: James Byrne, 59, Faculty Drive, Columbus, Ohio; and Roseann C. Hartman, 50, Tecumseh Street, Warsaw. Byrne was backing his vehicle when he hit Hartman’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 4:43 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, East Market Street, near South Columbia Street, Warsaw. Drivers: unknown; and Nithyanandhi Duraisamy, 34, Hemlock Lane, Warsaw. Duraisamy was traveling south on South Columbia Street when she was hit by an unknown gray or silver passenger car. The driver of the passenger car fled the scene. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 2:41 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 407 N. Parker St., Warsaw. Driver: unknown. Candi M. Evans, Warsaw, said she was notified that an unknown driver hit her parked vehicle and left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
- 1:12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, West Winona Avenue, near South Lake Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Travis A. Lung, 31, North West Boulevard, Elkhart; and Kylee A. Soto, 21, North CR 200W, Winamac. Lung was traveling north out of a business entrance onto South Lake Street when he entered the West Winona Avenue and South Lake Street intersection. He did not notice Soto’s vehicle traveling west on West Winona Avenue and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 11:51 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, Lake City Highway, near East CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: Walter H. Hanson, 79, Menominee Drive, Plymouth; and David R. Hollis, 66, North A Street, Elwood. Hanson was traveling west on Lake City Highway in the right lane of travel when he rear-ended Hollis’ vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, East Main Street, near North Grant Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Hollee J. Ramey, 42, Cedar Road, Bourbon; and Kaitlin T. Wood, 21, Belmont Drive, Warsaw. Ramey was traveling south on North Grant Street and came to a stop at East Main Street. She proceeded into the intersection and did not see Wood’s vehicle traveling west on East Main Street. Wood’s teeth appeared to have been moved during the impact and she also sustained a hand injury. Damage up to $25,000.
- 8:17 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, North Parker Street, near Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: Tyler J. Longenbaugh, 23, South CR 500E, Columbia City. Longenbaugh was traveling west on Lake City Highway when a vehicle failed to stop at a red light while traveling south on Parker Street. To avoid a collision, Longenbaugh swerved his vehicle, which resulted in his vehicle leaving the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
