WWFT Responds To Fireplace Chimney Fire

WARSAW — Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory responded to 2924 S. Woodland Hills Drive East, Warsaw, Sunday afternoon, after homeowners reported smoke in their residence.
The call was received at approximately 4:22 p.m.
Tanker assist was requested from Winona Lake and Claypool fire departments, but were later disregarded.
WWFT Battalion Chief Mike Brubaker reported the fire was in a fireplace stove pipe in the home’s living room. The cause of the fire was undetermined at the scene.
The homeowners, according to the county Beacon Mapping system, John and Julia Grothouse, were home at the time of the fire and had exited the house prior to firefighters arrival.
Lutheran EMS also responded to the scene.
